I can confirm the bug. It's quite suprprising, because for the first time in 
history mu vaio _did_ suspend to ram (and resume), which is notoriously more 
difficult than suspend to disk (aka hibernate), and failed to hibernate noe 
:-)! 
I simple restored the /dev/hda5 fstab entry and added a resume=/dev/hda5 on the 
boot line. 
I suggest that importance of this bug should me marked high, and then posting a 
"standard" solution so that things will not break again in the future. 
OTOH: grat work for edgy. My vaio is now almost fully functional. Kudos!
