** Description changed:

  Hi,

I'm experiencing a sound problem regarding the KDE 4.1.2 system notifications
(Kubuntu Intrepid Beta), like login/logout
  or kopete notifications.
All notifications are played with full intensity, regardless of the settings
of alsamixer, kmix or the sound settings in
System Settings > Notifications > Player Settings (these are not controlled
by alsamixer/kmix). The notifications are
- played using the KDE sound system. Audio playback with aplay, amarok, flash,
music123, etc. works as expected. Although
- using music123 as system notifications backend does not solve the problem.
+ played using the KDE sound system. Audio playback with aplay, amarok, flash,
music123, etc. works as expected.
The sound card I use is a Intel 82801G (ICH7 family) with pcm to control the
volume.

- Has someone an idea? Thanks in advance.
+ Workaround: Replacing the notifications playback backend with music123 (or
other external player) solves the issue,
+ but playing sounds in System Settings is not effected by it.
+ Further it needs to be verified if setting the volume via the sound settings
in System Settings > Notifications > Player Settings solves the problem too
(I've only tried playback it in System Settings).
+
+ Has someone an idea, how to fix it with the problem using the KDE sound
+ system? Thanks in advance.
