Success!!! I'm currently typing from the 6.10 Live Desktop. Yes, the person who filed this bug report has finally had success. I tried Bytebugger's suggestion:
1) In boot option on LiveCD boot screen (F6), add: break=bottom 2) Boot the CD, and wait for the (initramfs) prompt. At the prompt do: mv /root/etc/X11/xorg.conf /root/etc/X11/xorg.conf.disabled 3.) At the prompt do: exit This did the trick. Tormod, I tried your instructions but they didn't work. I think it simply may be the n00b in me needing a more concrete step-by-step guide, as I haven't worked with Nano before and may have not correctly changed my xorg.conf file. If anyone has more detailed, n00b steps, I'll try them tomorrow night. Ultimately, what's the difference between Bytebugger's and Tormod's suggestions? Aren't they simply two different ways to flip to vesa? Thanks Bytebugger and Tormod. And apologies for the delay in responding to your suggested workarounds - I was away for a couple of days on business and just got back tonight. Hopefully, a fix can make it in to the 6.10 DVD, as vesa not working properly from the Safe Graphics Option is a pretty serious issue, given how many different types of underlying bugs this could effect and how much it could turn away new users. Glad to see that headway is being made on this bug, thanks to Bytebugger, Tormod and many other posters.
