This also happened to me today. I had Ubuntu 8.04.1 installed, then installed Intrepid beta on a separate partition to give it a try. I liked intrepid and it seemed stable so i upgraded 8.04.1 to 8.10 beta then erased the swap and ext3 used for the 8.10 and created 2 partitions out of it. It worked fine before i erased the test Intrepid instalation, now i can't get Ubuntu to run. I've checked the fstab and device.map and they match. I'm unsure what to do.
