Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-app-install
Up-to-date intrepid When entering site on the internet with media content, you may need to install additional codecs. What bothers me is this action, to buy from canonical store. This new action may give wrong impression to some people about ubuntu. I understand the restrictions in different laws on different countries, does this means medibuntu is obsolete? You'll no longer can install appropriate codecs from repos. Only option is to buy through canonical. I know this isn't true. But what is the message sent to new users, who thought it was free OS and free software? There is a need to a mention both ways, medibuntu and canonical.store And let the users decide the course of action. gnome-app-install (0.5.8-0ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low * AppInstall/activation.py, AppInstall/distros/Default.py: - support a generic way to add a link button during codec install into the UI for additional actions * AppInstall/distros/Ubuntu.py: - link to the codec page in the canonical shop Discussion in ubuntuforums.. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=935020 ** Affects: gnome-app-install (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [gnome-codec-install] link to buy codecs from canonical.store https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/276786 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
