I close this bug again since this boot problem and the one in 2.6.17 are two different issues. In 2.6.15 (Dapper) the kernel didn't boot with BootX - period. That was fixed in 2.6.15-23-powerpc.
The 2.6.17 (Edgy) kernel boots fine when no initial ramdisk (initrd.img) is choosen in BootX. It obviously cannot find the root filesystem when and panics. This bug is reported as bug #50746 and is still open. ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Status: Needs Info => Fix Released -- linux-image-2.6.15-14-powerpc does not boot on "50 (PowerBook Wallstreet)" https://launchpad.net/bugs/30273 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
