Public bug reported: Binary package hint: irda-utils
Many of new Laptops may have an Fast InfraRed port which is not initialized by BIOS. This could be solved by smcinit (included in new release). This task should be easy (hint: http://packages.debian.org/unstable/utils/irda-utils) Please consider detecting such hardware in installer (eg. HP nx8220 PG802EA) and try to enable IrDA with FIR driver. PS. If possible backport this package for Dapper & Edgy. ** Affects: irda-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Include new release 0.9.18/Instalation with non-enabled IrDA chip https://launchpad.net/bugs/70654 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
