I have the impression that the problem came up at the moment I received a kernel update via apt/update manager: is that plausible? I rebooted with previous version of linux kernel, and Virtualbox started without problems.
To my understanding this bug needs to be forwarded to Sun/Innotek to tell them to check whether the virtualbox module is built for the running kernel or not and then (after confirmation?) do that one step of the installation again for the current kernel version (as has been done at installation for the kernel which was running then), At least, that was the diagnostics from my (same) issue on my laptop.
