Glyph Lefkowitz, could you be a little bit more specific about "the latest everything", for instance: What kernel version (uname -a) are you running? If you are not running one of the latest kernels (.26 or .27) I am willing to test those against this bug. I might even be tempted to reinstall totem for test purposes (I have never liked that player)
