Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdesudo
Hello. I am using Intrepid Alpha 6 updated with latest packages as of 2008-09-28. kdesudo package version 3.3.1-0ubuntu1 Previously kdesudo for KDE 3 (till Hardy) used to put kdesudo in /usr/bin/kdesudo and a symlink /usr/bin/kdesu to the kdesudo in the same directory. Now kdesudo for KDE 4 (in Intrepid) only contains /usr/bin/kdesudo and the symlink to this is placed at /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu for some unknown (to me) reason. While the symlink is valid (i.e. not broken) it is of no use in practicality. Neither from the Alt+F2 KRunner nor from the Konsole terminal are we able to use kdesu to launch any application (say for example kdesu kwrite /boot/grub/menu.lst) but we are forced to only use kdesudo. While typing those two extra letters is not in itself a big deal, I feel that there is no harm in letting users who are used to type kdesu to continue using it. So please move the kdesu link from /usr/lib/kde4/libexec to /usr/bin where it will be useful. If OTOH there is any real meaning in placing the link under /usr/lib/kde4/libexec, please explain it. ** Affects: kdesudo (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- kdesu does not work on intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275337 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
