** Description changed: + RJN: Updated the summary to reflect that this I've just seen this a generation later, in Intrepid Alpha 6. + ----------- + Binary package hint: displayconfig-gtk Hardy alpha 6 installed on a Core 2 Duo system with an Nvidia GeForce 7600GS graphics card. Primary monitor is a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 920 (CRT). I've tried two secondary monitors, both LCDs - a Videoseven 17 inch (1280x1024) and an unbadged 15 inch (1024x768). In both cases attempts to set up the secondary monitor via displayconfig-gtk have failed. displayconfig-gtk is at version 0.3.7 Steps to reproduce: At start the primary monitor is working correctly, The secondary monitor indicates it's input is out of range and nothing is displayed. Run displayconfig-gtk - Screen 1 is listed correctly. Screen 2 is disabled. Click on screen 2. Set monitor to LCD 1024x768 - note that "detect" button in monitor selection dialogue is greyed out. Set resolution to 1024x768 at 60 Hz Click "Secondary screen" radio button - Extend default screen to the right is already selected so leave it Click on Test - Primary screen blanks momentarily. - Secondary screen blacks out (backlight goes off then on) and then returns to indicating input is out of range. - Then get message as follows: Configuration test failed Please verify the selected devices and configuration If displayconfig-gtk is run from a console via sudo the following text is printed: --- START QUOTE--- ~$ sudo displayconfig-gtk on_button_test_config_clicked() xauth: creating new authority file /tmp/dcg-R8odej6090/xauthority Got pid 6107 (0, 0) checkpoint 1 None False Sorry, this configuration video card driver and monitor doesn't appear to work: Messages from the X server: Fatal server error: --- END QUOTE --- Note - there is just a blank line after the line "Fatal server error:" At no point is anything displayed on the secondary screen except its own message that the input signal is out of range. No combination of resolution and refresh frequencies tried alters this. -- Intrepid alpha 6: Dual screen fails with GeForce 7600GS and nv driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199946 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
