Hi, I tried installing Kubuntu Dapper about a month ago, and now Edgy, with the exact same result: The LiveCD boots and runs ok, the installation seems to complete successfully, but after the reboot, following the grub menu in which I select the new installation, I get an error similar to this report's subject:
[17179574.676000] crc error [17179574.676000] Kernel panic - not synching: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) The system has one SATA 80GB drive with WinXP, and the installer is used to create a secondary partition for Kubuntu. The error is displayed consistently. Selecting WinXP in grub boots XP with no problems.
