hello, uninstall all pulseaudio related packages and reinstall it (or reinstall simply ubuntu-desktop) resolve problem for me under hardy list of package: gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio pulseaudio pulseaudio-esound-compat pulseaudio-module-gconf pulseaudio-module-hal pulseaudio-module-x11 pulseaudio-utils
