  Hi,
  
  I'm doing a first time install and I'd like to put Ubuntu 8.04 to my
  (larger) second drive since there is plenty of room there.  When I boot

  The drive is known to be in good working order since I can access it
  from WinXP.
  
  I am running a Dell XPS Gen 2, Intel P4 3GHz, 2 GB SDRAM
  
  I read the other postings but none seemed to address this.  Thanks very
