Too many time passed before this question -> configuration updated to newer Kubuntu. I no longer have problematic configuration. As for me, newer OSes did not caused any issues with screen resolution during updates so looks like in newer OSes this bug does not exist. The only minor issue I have is that AL1722 LCD is not recognized as some known type of LCD while there is bunch of models with close names. However I did not detected any problems due to this fact so far.
