I got a huge amount of errors with the memtest that comes with Ubuntu. Now I need to know whether my new ram is damaged or my old one. I don't know how to do the file system check but it does not matter because it is the ram that is damaged. I had to install another version of linux until I can fix that problem. Thanks for the help.
