I am now using intrepid. Using for example a test preferences file like this: Package: alien Pin: release v=8.10 Pin-Priority: -1
the command "sudo aptitude install alien" worked without crashing. I tried different combination of preferences and packages. It never crashed. When using a priority of zero (but not for less than zero) a warning is issued. The only remaining complaint is that according to the apt_preferences manpage,a negative priority "prevents the version from being installed" while, actually, it still gets installed. But as I understand it, it is a bug from libapt and not aptitude ... -- Aptitude segfaults when trying to install a package with negative priority https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/78068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
