I've broken out the .Xmodmap problem slangasek had run into as bug 269619. I've broken out the suspend key problem that I ran into as bug 269951. Pitti, I believe that this is the issue you're running into. If you could, please check your symptoms against what I described there and comment either way there. At this stage I don't know if my issue is specific to the 1420N, specific to multiple Dell models, or more widely encountered.
(The keyboard lockup I mentioned I had experienced earlier on resume from sleep is gone. Unfortunately, it appears the network is lost on resume now.
