+ Rhythmbox seizes up system when burning CD
** Description changed:

- I'm pretty sure this is not a hardware problem.
- I don't do much with CD's except for occasionally burning one to listen in
the car.
- It's worked great so far on this laptop, but I went to do it today, and had
issues.
I used rhythmbox to burn, and when it started burning, it should have taken 5
to 10 minutes and been done, but it started really slowly. The whole system
seemed to slow down. The music Rhythmbox was playing started skipping and
stopped, and the touchpad made the mouse very jerky, everything was just slow.
So I left and came back three hours later, and it was still slow, still trying
to burn the cd, but rhythmbox was no longer open. I had to shut it down
because I couldn't get the disc to eject.
I looked at the cd afterwards, and it looks burned, and when I put it in, it
came up as an audio cd, and nautilus showed wav files, all of them that should
have been there. Rhythmbox hung up on it, though.
-
+ So I tried this again. This time was very similar, except the CD ejected
after a little while, as if it was done. But Rhythmbox was frozen at 11
minutes remaining, about a 5th of the way across, and the whole system was
slow, indicating a lot of disk activity, like it had run out of RAM or
something. I put it into an XP machine, and the disc came up and played fine.
I put it back into the Ubuntu, and Rhythmbox saw it, but kept reading on the
CD, showing zero songs. I had to eject the CD (which crashed Rhythmbox).
+ This is looking more like a bug in Rhythmbox?
+ I will try burning with Brasero and playing the "failed" CD's elsewhere.
Here's the lshw of the drive:
