Hello again, just wanted to say that I tried linux- image-2.6.27-3-generic_2.6.27-3.3smb5_amd64.deb from http://people.ubuntu.com/~smb/bug254668/ and it boots appearingly perfectly fine, i.e. without the need of adding noapictimer flag.....
