New kernel did not fix it. Intrepid Alpha5 freezes laptop completely
after the message "Rebooting the system" is displayed. Keyboard is dead
as well as CD-ROM eject button, and the only thing that can be done is
to power machine off by holding Power button.

+ Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-*-generic

Asus F5N laptop freezes on restart after displaying the message "Will
now restart." It will not respond to any key and has to be powered off
by depressing the power button. Shutting down X and unloading nVidia and
snd-hda-intel drivers does not help. Will not reboot from single user
mode with the same symptoms. Passing "reboot=b" parameter to the kernel
does not help either. This affects Ubuntu 7.10 Desktop CD (fails to
reboot after initial install) and the current 2.6.22-14-generic SMP
kernel. In addition to this information, dmidecode command output is
  attached.

- Hardy 8.04 Alpha 6 has the same issue as well.
+ Hardy 8.04 and Intrepid Alpha5 still have this problem.
