You have too many issues going on here. Try to sort them out one by one. Why did you install the linux-wlan-ng package at all? If the md5sum doesn't match the CD is corrupted and strange things may happen. I haven't seen any Linux application display passwords on the screen, so I would be very surprised if synaptics does. If you have added the CD to your Software Sources, the package managers will try to get packages from there instead of downloading them. You try to do rather complicated things like virtualisation, maybe you should start out with a standard install first, and see if that goes well.
