Well SLogger, I'm glad that worked for you, but removing 'splash' from the boot line (or any other modification of it I've been able to dream up so far) has not had any effect for me; I still cannot access any of the console screens.
I still get the same blank screen after the cursor shows up for a second in the top left corner, no sound, and not able to do anything.
