** Description changed: Intrepid Alpha-5 Live Desktop CD fails to boot on a Acer TM 5730 (Intel Montevina, GMA X4500HD). The Error I get is: (initramfs) [31.842118] endrequest: I/O error, devsr0, sector 1424384 [31.8421160] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 17 This was also reported in bug #254406 Also (and this might be the actual cause of the problem), running memtest from the CD produces numerous errors until it eventually crashes. This is well known, I guess, and reported in bug #246412, for example. I am sorry for double posting, but i thought it might be worth a new thread because it's a new Alpha and Centrino-2 platform (correct me if that is wrong thinking). + + UPDATE: The CD image I used was corrupted, but also with a working CD it + crashes. Not with the initramfs error, but with a black screen which is + preceeded by an error message very short (to short to read it).
