They do: Package: cups Replaces: cupsys (<< 1.3.7-6), cupsys-bsd (<< 1.3.7-5) Conflicts: cupsys (<< 1.3.7-6), cupsys-bsd (<< 1.3.7-5) Provides: cupsys Thus you can safely uninstall cupsys, cupsys-client, etc, the transitional packages for the apps; I didn't find any versioned dependency on those.
