I tested a bit further with as Wireless USB device, reported by lsusb as a "ZyDAS 802.11b/g USB2 WiFi".
With this device I can associate with my network using kernel 2.6.27-2. Please note that nm-applet lists my network (with a bar of around 80%) under the Zydas device, but the network is not listed beneath the intel integrated chipset (network name r-stue, see attached png). Also note that nm-applet shows no bars in the tray icon, but my wireless network connection trought the zyda device is okay, and iwconfig reports this: wmaster0 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11abg ESSID:"" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.447 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Bit Rate:54 Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B Power Management:off Link Quality=63/100 Signal level:-69 dBm Noise level=-97 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 wmaster1 no wireless extensions. eth2 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"r-stue" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.467 GHz Access Point: 00:14:BF:E1:C8:76 Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=0 dBm Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B Power Management:off Link Quality=100/100 Signal level:32/100 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 ** Attachment added: "nm-applet-2.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17357502/nm-applet-2.png -- iwl3945 not able to associate with kernel 2.6.26 and 2.6.27 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/264881 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
