*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 47848 *** I couldn't see any Reiser support, or I'd have used that - I did download the image a few days ago, if that makes any difference (doubt it - seems a bit of a major change for a point release?).
The reason I can't (or rather won't) add a separate boot partition is nothing to do with Ubuntu - it's because I have two other OS installs on this machine which I can't risk destroying, so I'm not going to monkey around resizing partitions. I've now successfully installed on JFS - hangs starting X, but I don't know why yet.
