Public bug reported: Lo,
I'm have a problem with network-manager[-gnome]. My setup is fairly simple. I have a Linksys AP, WPA enabled, with a hidden SSID and TKIP PSK. If I add the appropriate informatie using the gnome applet, it tries to connect but never succeeds. After it fails, it falls back to a default wifi connecting in the area, which happens to be open. (maybe this is relevant?) However, if I setup wpasupplicant properly (/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf and a proper stanza in /etc/network/interfaces), it all works perfectly well. I had to add "ap_scan=2" and "scan_ssid" thought. So the hardware is working properly and the PSK is entered correctly. The critical part from the syslog looks like this: Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): RX ctrl_iface - hexdump_ascii(len=24): Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): 53 45 54 5f 4e 45 54 57 4f 52 4b 20 30 20 67 72 SET_NETWORK 0 gr Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): 6f 75 70 20 54 4b 49 50 oup TKIP Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): CTRL_IFACE: SET_NETWORK id=0 name='group' value='TKIP' Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): group: 0x8 Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): RX ctrl_iface - hexdump_ascii(len=16): Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): 45 4e 41 42 4c 45 5f 4e 45 54 57 4f 52 4b 20 30 ENABLE_NETWORK 0 Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): CTRL_IFACE: ENABLE_NETWORK id=0 Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): Setting scan request: 0 sec 0 usec Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): State: DISCONNECTED -> SCANNING Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): Trying to associate with SSID 'ditgaatniemandietsaan' Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): Cancelling scan request Jun 23 18:00:53 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iwpa_supplicant(5256): WPA: clearing own WPA/RSN IE Jun 23 18:01:01 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Ieth0: link timed out. Is there a way to suppy wpa_supplicant options via network-manager?
