I'm seeing something very similar to this, and it is making kmail unusable. Basically, it will work fine for a while, then I'll select a message, and it'll crash. When I start it up again, it crashes again, consistently. The only reliable way I've found of allowing it to start is to delete all the IMAP caches, which is really a pain.
Will add my crash log as an attachment.
