Please read the corresponding section about progress windows of the
GNOME HIG, that we try to follow. (bold text, allignments, spacings)
In generally you are right, the dialog needs some review. I planned a
facelift for synaptic in the next monthes.
The details/terminal issue was already reported. I would like to see a
better description - details is also very fague.
If you only install new software you don't peform an update.
New users perhaps don't know that installing software can take up some
time. They often think that something would go wrong if it takes very
long.
