Public bug reported:
My update-manager in Dapper correctly notifies of updates and updates
packages when I click "Install Updates".
However if I click "Show details", the Description tab will show text
but the Changes tab will say briefly "Downloading the list of
changes..." and then go blank. It stays blank and I can't see the
changelog.
This happens on all packages, e.g. today's updates for gdm
2.14.7-0ubuntu1 and sound-juicer 2.14.4-0ubuntu1.
I've seen this on multiple networks, including one where a colleague
could see the changes on his Dapper workstation and I could not, at the
same time, so it's not an issue of something being blocked.
There is no error message through the GUI or in /var/log/messages.
(Surely if this fails it should throw an exception with an explanation?)
This is a fresh Dapper installation. I'm in GNOME with mostly the
settings that came with the system setup. My /etc/apt/sources.list is
all default repositories.
