Could you try: sudo dpkg --purge hplip-base sudo apt-get --reinstall install hplip sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart
Go to Add New printer and add follow instructions on adding printer. When you finish, attach new /etc/cups/printers.conf and try printing again.
