Public bug reported: I have a fresh Ubuntu 6.06 installation on my Twinhead Efio! 123A Laptop. Shutting down the system works fine. On a reboot the system ist shutting down properly, but after the last message, that says something like "System will restart now" the screen goes blank and nothing else happens. I have to manually shut off the laptop.
This bug did never happen with previous Ubuntu releases. It seems to be a kernel related problem, as the same bug also happen with SuSE 10.1, which I tried before. SuSE 10 was working, like all the previous Ubuntu releases. The bug even exists in the Ubuntu (Debian) Installer. After the system was installed, the reboot failed like discribed above. I had to switch off manually again. Some information about my system: uname -a: Linux laptop 2.6.15-23-k7 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 23 14:20:54 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux The output of lspci -vv can be downloaded here: http://www.sengstock.net/downloads/lspci.txt Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'linux- image-2.6'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- System hangs on reboot with blank screen [Dapper 6.06] https://launchpad.net/bugs/49829 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
