June 13, 06 Credit and thanks should also be given to Rich Johnson of the Ubuntu support team for his quick response to my request for help (request # 1038). His tips are similar, and choice # 1 works well. I didn't know that the solution was so easy.
Below are his instructions, if I may quote him. And I am sure that they will be useful to other Ubuntu users. 1. (Kubuntu) Kmenu > System Settings > Display * Log in as administrator. For display configurations see if the display matches your current monitor. If it does, then set it to a default/generic 1280x1024, save and exit out, then restart x by doing: ctrl + alt + backspace. However if the monitor listed isn't correct, see if you can select the correct monitor and then restart x. If this doesn't work, at a bash prompt type: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg this command will cause you to rewrite your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. make sure you select the correct driver, which 99% of the time it has automatically found it for me. I usually just press enter the whole way through the config process, but just keep an eye on what you are agreeing to. Thank you again, Rich PS This turned out to be my Blog instead of a bug report.
