By the way, it looks like its possible to disable the services which would cause cds to appear on the desktop etc, under the services in the KDE components section of the control center. I'm trying this as a workaround / precaution - in fact I've disabled all the services since none of them interest me much - just thought Rob might be interested in it as a stop-gap measure.
