Hello all, As posted before, N-HiTec would like to re-organize an Ubuntu Day @ ULg.
First of all, you have to know that it seems we won't have same administrative problems this time as the most is already done. /About what : / What we would like to do is, in addition with a LIP, to offer some training and presentations of Linux (and in particular Ubuntu) to people who want. So, we need people interested in sharing their knowledge of Linux to others. It would be good to make at least 2 presentations at the same time, each one during about 2hours : 1) An introduction to the working of Ubuntu : starting the computer and open a session (Gnome, KDE or other) ; the working of the interface (shortcuts, control panel, ...), off course Synaptic, and some basic settings like 3D Effects, multiple desktops, network (and WPA as we use WPA encryption on the network at ULg), own keyboard shortcuts, compile and install by themselves (./configure, make, ...), tar and gzip, the joy of the terminal and his basic functions (vim-nano-emacs, more/less, grep, apt-get, mv, cp, ...) 2) Advanced functions : advanced settings like xorg, network, configuration of Apache, PHP/Mysql and other useful servers, virtual machines (to run windows e.g.), network sharing, package creation, ... These lists are non-exhaustive and off course we ain't forced to present everything listed ; I wrote them only for examples. Every idea, suggestion, remark is welcome ;-) /About when & where : / End afternoon and evening during the week after the release of 8.04 (week of the 21 april would be great, not friday). Probably on the Campus of the Sart-Tilman : easy to park, many bus to come and leave, and all the infrastructure we need. We are looking after people who would make one presentation. As written, the subjects are not fixed so tell me what you'd like to do. Is is also possible that different persons perform an unique presentation. These presentations would be done in French and opened to everyone. People who prefer perform the LIP are also welcome (the more people, the more fun and the better it is ;-)). For further information, don't hesitate to take contact with me on my Gmail address ( [EMAIL PROTECTED] ) Hope to see you soon, For N-HiTec, Terry http://www.nhitec.com -- ubuntu-be mailing list / mailto:ubuntu-be@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-be
