Hi all,

Just to tell you that I will be giving a presentation on Linux World Brussels
2008 (http://www.linuxworldexpo.be/) on Ubuntu.
This is a talk for a business, non-tech public.

I was asked to provide a summary of my presentation, which I'm copying here:

--------------
Ubuntu's primary focus is user-centric: give your users what they want. As such
the most work has been done on desktop centric offerings, and they have been
very successful at providing an easy to use and appealing desktop environment
for new Linux users. They recently made deals with Dell to provide
pre-installed systems. Only recently they started putting also more work on
server offerings, but they already made a big name just with their Desktop
offerings.

They obviously have a lot of catch-up work to do with other Distributions, such
as Red Hat, but they already provide an infrastructure with certain advantages
over the pure community based distributions, such as Debian, on which Ubuntu is
based, by providing scheduled releases and a support path, and a separate long
term support release (Ubuntu LTS). Third parties like Zimbra groupware already
give more support on Ubuntu than on Debian.
--------------

I still need to work out the actual presentation, and I will write about *my*
perception and experience, but off course all constructive remarks or ideas are
welcome.
