Hi again, a guy I asked told me there was no such a thing as a safe mode on Linux. As you can tell, I don't have first hand experience with that. :)
When I boot up Ubuntu, I don't get any kind of a menu. I had it in Ubuntu 9, but it disappered after I upgraded to 10. Yesterday I googled how to enter the recovery mode. I found this page: http://linuxtopia.org/online_books/system_administration_books/ubuntu_starter_guide/ch08.html . I don't get the GRUB menu at any point. I also tried to insert the installation CD because one of the points in the article I linked mentions this: At “boot:” prompt, add “rescue” to the argument (boot: rescue) I get a GUI with two options - trial mode or installation. I wasn't given a prompt. Thank you for your patience.
