I am not sure if anybody already knows about it or not. Sorry if I am
reposting.

http://www.portablepython.com/releases/portable-python-11/

The above URL has the releases of Portable Python for Windows. ATM I am
downloading the Portable Python 1.1 built on Python 3.0.1.

The best thing about the package is that you can install and configure
python to run from a USB stick. It's gonna be very helpful for me because I
pass my idle time at my University's MIS lab. I am not allowed to install
any softwares there. Now, I can write python scripts at my off periods :)

Python is pre-installed on Ubuntu and python has a better scope for cross
platform development. I know Python 3 is backward incompatible and scripts
written on version 3+ will not run on Ubuntu's (Ubuntu 8.10) default python
installation (python 2.5). But don't be frustrated, they have portable
python built on three different versions of python, namely - 2.5, 2.6 and 3.

I am downloading the version 3 because it's loads smaller than the other
ones. It contains only PyScripter and Rpyc where as the other versions have
lots of extras added on.

And one question, what version of python is pre-installed on Ubuntu 9.04 ?
