Hi everyone, Thanks again for the replies and messages so far. It’s been fantastic to see so much interest in getting the Ubuntu Australia community active again. A big thank you to Jared as well for sharing the background from the early days and for the offer of support.
*For those new to this:* A LoCo (Local Community) is simply a group of Ubuntu users and contributors in a region who connect, share knowledge, and help each other out. You don't need to be highly technical or heavily involved. Participation can be as light or as hands on as you like. *We’ve officially moved!* We have now set up an official Ubuntu Australia category on Discourse. This will be our main hub for discussion and coordination as we reboot for 2026. 👉 *Come say hello in our Welcome Thread! <https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/ubuntu-australia-loco-reboot-getting-started-for-2026/>* *Why the switch?* Moving to Discourse is where the wider Ubuntu community is heading. Canonical has indicated that their mailing list and wiki will be winding down over the next year, so this is the perfect time to make the move. *Need help?* If you are unsure how to get an account on Discourse, check out this short guide to getting started <https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/getting-started-on-the-ubuntu-discourse/>. *UbuCon Australia* We are also starting early discussions about a potential UbuCon in Australia around August. Nothing is locked in yet, but we will be sharing details and asking for input over on the new forum as things take shape. I’ll continue to post major updates here while the list remains active :) Also, If you prefer email, Discourse has a Mailing List Mode that sends posts to your inbox and lets you reply via email, just like you do now. You can find this in User Preferences -> Emails. Hope to see you all there! Cheers, Tim
