I upgraded my jaunty netbook remix to karmic - first time I've done an in-place upgrade. Overall a pleasant experience. There were a couple of glitches with the notification area - which were a known issue for my netbook (hpmini 1000) - but these are slowly coming good as the updates flow in.
One thing that is giving me some frustration at the moment is WIFI connectivity. Don't get me wrong, it's working but I find that it can take a while to establish the connection when I'm not to close to the router. Once connected though, the signal strength and performance are good. Sometime I have to start up a browser or select disconnect/connect to establish the connection. As I said frustrating but not a biggie,I probably should hunt around on launchpad to see if any issues are being reported. This is also the first time I've used Evolution in anger, using it as an imap client to gmail. I have mixed feelings about it. Gmail integration is good but I can't find a way to tell Evolution not to pull down my "all mail" folder. On the plus side two way syncing with my google calendars is good and the google contacts sync is looking promising. Also Evolution on a netbook is a bit crowded - we need a simpler UI for the netbook market. The big head scratcher for me is ubuntuone. I think I have is set up correct but I'll be buggered if I can get it to sync stuff. It is always in a disconnected state and selecting connect doesn't seem to do anything. Wanting to end on a high - really like the easy PPA setup, great looking UI, stable where it needs to be (audio, networking) and looking forward to the Ubuntu software store opening up new possibilities for users and developers alike.
