ok this thread / post seems to have gone a bit far down the wrong path. This isn't a 2 year old's playground.
This is the ubuntu-au mailing list. If you want to create a *new* distribution please do not start a thread here. This post should really have been about suggestions to improve the ubuntu distribution for Australian users. There are already 1000000000000000000000000 linux distributions we really do no need another. The issue has always been that none was large enough or had enough ease of use and mass appeal. We now have ubuntu. It isn't perfect, nothing is perfect. If you want your own distribution go and make it. However, i do not think this list is going to really be of that much help. To actually maintain a linux distribution properly you need a *lot* of people. Canonical employees people full time who support and develop for the ubuntu distribution. The debian project has a lot of developers who participate in their free time. The linux kernel contributors if you look, are mostly from companies. Sure i'm happy to admit there are a few *small* linux distributions out there who have one developer who works on the project. However, those really do/cannot offer the same level as support as ubuntu or any of the major distributions can offer. while (community=="good") { ubuntu++; } -- ubuntu-au mailing list ubuntu-au@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-au
