Usually Iain will update the message on the main board saying the contest has been closed. But the message has not changed : <http://www.flickr.com/groups/ubuntu-artwork/> The message still reads contest is open. But its only been 2 days since the deadline, so it is safe to say that the contest wallpapers have not yet been finalized. By all means feel free to submit, no need to hesitate.
