Yes, that is why I said that totem is probably the least offender of all...in 
fact I think it has more to do with gtk than totem.

One thing that occurs to me with totem is the use of the status bar to display 
the status (play/pause) and the total time/current time. It simply wastes 
space. Between the controls (the icons for play/pause, back/forth) and the 
volume level, etc. on the right there is certainly enough space to show this 
information. My thinkpad X60s only has 1024x768 resolution and there is a 
major waste of space between these icons, while still adding the status bar 
to show the other info...why? Even on smaller resolutions there would be 
plenty of space to show this info in between those icons without using a 
status bar. Again, I think this is probably due to gtk issues and not totem 
itself but most users wouldn't know the difference.
