How is the pic different when you export it using inkscape? If it is simply not the right part of the pic, or too much extra space, etc. I would guess you need to choose the right option when exporting (you can export the current selection, the page, or the drawing) whereas, if it is a real problem with rendering (the lines look funny or such) I would suggest trying a different oversampling (anti-aliasing) setting (File-->Inkscape settings... opens a popup --> Misc., oversampling)

Otherwise it sounds like a bug in inkscape (one that I have never encountered).
