Hi,
The only Ubuntu for the Pine64 is xubuntu Zenial Mate.
I failed to mention that it is xubuntu in my previous messages.
I would rather get this working without a USB soundcard, it has an audio jack.
When I SSH into it and log in as root, and run
espeak "hello"
it does not send any output and refers to the jack server.
I tried:
apt-get install gnome-orca
and it read a lot a lot of messages that Alsa could not find devices, and read
that the version of Orca that is installed is already the latest.
That part is good news, so I know that it should work, but I need to get the
audio working.
Perhaps I can tweak an audio file.
Would anyone be able to point me to the directory for editing and which file to
edit?
I'm thinking that modprobe is in order, but I'm not sure.
Linux is not my main platform.
Incidentally, when I logged in with sudo -s
it did not let me run espeak, but when I logged in with sudo su, it did.
And it does not recognize aptitude.
Glenn
