Unfrotunately I need a bit more information to try and work out exactly what 
you are talking about. When you are logging in, are you talking about logging 
into GNOME? If so, I think I know what you are talking about regarding the 
configuration server, and no, I haven't seen it before.

The only thing I can suggest, is deleting all .gconf and .gnome2 related 
directories from your home directory. You will have to re-enable accessibility 
after doing this however.
