The 30th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence
(IJCAI) will be held in Montréal, Canada, from August 21st to August
26th, 2021. The technical program committee invites the submission of
demos.
The primary goals of the Demonstrations Track are: first, to provide a
platform for exchanging inspiring ideas between theory and practice;
secondly, to showcase the applicability of different AI technologies to
real-world problems.
Accepted demo papers will be included in the IJCAI proceedings. In
addition, two awards will be given to honor outstanding demonstrations:
an Innovation Award for the demonstration with the most original and
significant research methodologies.
a Societal Impact Award for the demonstration with the highest
social impact in a real-world application.
Topics
As the premier general conference on AI, IJCAI 2021 welcomes submissions
across all areas of AI; the Demonstrations Track of IJCAI 2021 follows
this principle, though with an emphasis on the applicability of AI to
practice. Thus, the track scope includes (but is not limited to) the
following subfields of AI:
Computer Vision
Constraint Programming
Game Playing
Heuristic Search
Human-Computer Interactive Systems
Machine Learning
Multi-agent Systems
Natural Language Processing
Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
Planning and Scheduling
Recommender Systems
Speech Processing
Uncertainty in AI
Please note that Robotics is not included, since IJCAI 2021 will also
feature a Robot Exhibition and we encourage robotics demonstrations to
be submitted there.
We encourage all submissions that describe innovative, high-quality AI
research addressing real-world problems. Demos are expected to show the
applicability of different AI techniques with a strong emphasis on the
issues that have to be addressed to bring these to practice.
In particular, we encourage submitters to the Main Track of IJCAI 2021
to showcase their systems in the Demonstrations Track. Doing so requires
submitting your work twice (see Submission Details and Review Process).
Note, however, that the main track and the demonstration track are run
separately and no explicit coordination is offered, which suggests that
while one submission might be accepted in one track, it might be
rejected (or not) in the other.
Industrial researchers and practitioners are encouraged to submit their
works to the Demonstrations track.
Important Dates
Paper submission: 19 March, 2021 (11:59pm UTC-12)
Notification of acceptance/rejection: May 7, 2021 (11:59pm UTC-12)
Camera-ready copy due: May 14, 2021 (11:59pm UTC-12)
Modes of demo presentation
The demos at IJCAI 2021 will be held online. There will be a single mode
of presentation, where Demo submitters have 10 minutes to present their
demos in a “frontal” slide / video presentation
Submission Details and Review Process
Formatting Guidelines, LaTeX Styles and Word Template:

Submission site: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/IJCAI21Demos (Note
that CMT does not automatically send confirmation email to authors when
they submit a paper.)
The submitted document must be a single PDF in which the authors
describe the system to be demonstrated. The paper should describe the
application domain, the problem scenario, the technology used, the AI
techniques involved, the original contribution and innovations of the
system, live and interactive aspects, etc. Clearly indicate links to any
supplementary materials. Papers must be prepared in PDF format using the
IJCAI style. Submissions are NOT anonymous. The page limit is 4 pages in
total: 3 pages for the main text (including all figures but excluding
references), and one additional page for references. Over-length papers
will be rejected without review.
In addition, a URL linking to a demonstration video no more than 10
minutes in length has to be provided. This demo video may be a mixture
of demo and a voice-over (Powerpoint, pdf slides, …) and screencast
presentation showing and explaining what happens. Other formats are also
possible if they can more clearly illustrate the demo. The essential
objective of the demo talk is to give a precise idea of what the demo
will look like.
Submitted papers must be formatted according to the IJCAI guidelines and
submitted electronically through the submission link mentioned above. At
least one author of each accepted paper is required to attend the
conference to present the work (subject to possible COVID-19
considerations as determined by the IJCAI2021 organisation). Authors
will be required to agree to this requirement at the time of submission.
Submissions that do not meet the length or formatting requirements will
not be considered for review (see Submission Details). No email or fax
submissions will be accepted. Notification of receipt of an
electronically submitted paper will be emailed to the designated contact
author soon after receipt. If there are problems with the electronic
submission, the Demonstrations Track Co-Chairs will contact the
designated author by email.
Papers will be peer-reviewed by program committee members. Selection
criteria include originality, innovation, applicability and potential
benefits of the resulting system. Note that there will be no rebuttal
phase.
Keywords
When submitting their paper, authors will be required to choose content
area keywords. General categories should only be used if specific
categories do not apply or do not accurately reflect the main
contributions. The full list of keywords will be available on the
submission site.
Confidentiality Policy
All submissions will be treated in strict confidence until the
publication date.
Conflict of Interest Policy
All people involved in the IJCAI-21 review process adhere to the IJCAI
conflict of interest policy. Details can be found at http://ijcai.org/.
