Postdoctoral position available in artificial intelligence/biomedical 
informatics

A postdoctoral research position is available in Samantha Kleinberg’s group in 
the Computer Science department at Stevens Institute of Technology. Our broad 
focus is analysis of time series data, with an emphasis on causal inference in 
complex, large-scale, observational data. For researchers interested in working 
with challenging real-world data, our collaborations with clinicians at 
Columbia University and other institutions allow for unique access to patient 
data along with the opportunity to have a tangible impact on patient care.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a subset of the following areas:
-Analysis of large-scale data 
-Causal inference
-Time-series analysis
-Applications to biomedical data

Requirements:
-PhD in computer science or a related field (e.g. statistics, bioinformatics, 
physics)
-Strong publication record
-Excellent communication skills

The position is available for one year, with the potential for renewal for a 
second year. The start date will ideally be between 9/1/2012 and 9/1/2013.

Stevens Institute of Technology is a private university located in Hoboken, New 
Jersey. The campus is on the Hudson river across from midtown Manhattan, within 
10 minutes from NYC via public transportation, and accessible to suburban 
communities in Northern New Jersey along commuter train lines. Stevens' 
location offers excellent opportunities for collaborations with nearby 
universities such as NYU, Princeton, Columbia, and Rutgers/DIMACS as well as 
major industrial research laboratories such as Bell Labs, AT&T Labs, IBM
