CFP in PDF: www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~sum2012/files/CFP-SUM2012.pdf SUM is an annual conference with the goal to exploit and strengthen the connection between the Artificial Intelligence and Database communities. It aims at bringing together all those researchers interested in the management of massive amounts of uncertain information. Such information originates commonly in applications where significant computational effort is needed to process data in a meaningful and semantically justifiable manner. Typical applications of that kind include databases, the Web, and the life sciences. --------------------------------------------------------------- TOPICS AND SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE --------------------------------------------------------------- Papers are solicited in all areas of managing and reasoning with substantial and complex kinds of uncertain, incomplete or inconsistent information. These include (but are not restricted to) applications in decision support systems, machine learning, negotiation technologies, semantic web applications, search engines, ontology systems, information retrieval, natural language processing, information extraction, image recognition, vision systems, data and text mining, and the consideration of issues such as provenance, trust, heterogeneity, and complexity of data and knowledge. Apart from the regular topics within the scope of the conference, SUM-2012 seeks to specifically promote a small number of special themes: -- massive data streams -- visual analytics -- uncertainty, inconsistency and incompleteness in security and privacy -- uncertainty in biological and medical data --------------------------------------------------------------- ORGANIZATION, CONFERENCE VENUE AND DATES --------------------------------------------------------------- SUM-2012 will take place in Marburg, Germany, September 17-19. The conference is organized by Bernhard Seeger (General Chair), Eyke Hüllermeier and Sebastian Link (PC-Chairs), and Thomas Fober (Web and local arrangements). --------------------------------------------------------------- KEYNOTE SPEAKERS --------------------------------------------------------------- Joachim Buhmann (ETH Zürich, Switzerland) Minos Garofalakis (Technical University of Crete, Greece) Lawrence Hunter (School of Medicine, University of Colorado, Denver, USA) --------------------------------------------------------------- PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATIONS --------------------------------------------------------------- Papers must be submitted in Springer’s LNCS format by April 8, 2012. The conference proceedings will be published in the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) series by Springer-Verlag. In addition, special issues in the journal Information Systems and the International Journal of Approximate Reasoning are considered as post-conference publications. _______________________________________________ uai mailing list uai@ENGR.ORST.EDU https://secure.engr.oregonstate.edu/mailman/listinfo/uai
